Tellurian (Buy, TP: USD13.70) - All eyes on offtake agreements

In its Q2 report Tellurian maintained its guidance of first gas in 2023 and a final investment decision in 2019. We see the main risk to the investment case as low gas prices, which could push the FID into 2020, as Tellurian would not be in a strong negotiating position with offtakers. We reiterate our BUY recommendation and USD13.7 target price.

Tellurian (Buy, TP: USD13.70) - Total set to be USD0.9bn invested

Tellurian announced yesterday evening that Total is ready to invest a further USD700m, of which USD500m as an equity partner and USD200m to take part in a potential USD1bn capital raise at Tellurian, which would secure Tellurian 37.5% of the capital needed to move forward with FID for Phase 1 development. This follows the February announcement of India’s largest LNG importer, Petronet, signing an MOU with Tellurian.

Tellurian (Buy, TP: USD13.70) - Play on gas prices and founder

Tellurian stock hinges on global LNG prices, as well as execution risk. Mr. Souki (former founder of Cheniere Energy, USD16bn market cap today) is seeking to raise equity from buyers of natural gas in H1 2019, to obtain an FID to build a fully integrated US natural gas company with 27.6m tons of LNG production (first gas in 2023e). Tellurian shareholders would become owners of natural gas volumes linked to the equity raised by partners. We initiate coverage with a BUY and USD13.7 target price.
