Moody's announces completion of a periodic review of ratings of Crown Castle International Corp.

Announcement of Periodic Review: Moody's announces completion of a periodic review of ratings of Crown Castle International Corp.. Global Credit Research- 23 Jul 2019. New York, July 23, 2019-- Moody's Investors Service has completed a periodic review of the ratings of Crown Castle International Corp. and other ratings that are associated with the same analytical unit.

Crown Castle International Corp.: Strong liquidity and organic growth, but leverage remains at the higher end of target range

Our credit view of CCI, reflecting its strong position as one of the leading providers of wireless infrastructure in the US, robust cash flows, offset by high leverage, tenant concentration

American Tower Corporation: For wireless tower REITs, T-Mobile/Sprint merger is credit negative, although mitigants would soften the effect

The proposed merger of T-Mobile and Sprint would result in an increased churn and temper organic growth rates for the tower REITs, but other factors would help reduce the negative effect.

Crown Castle International Corp.: Update following outlook change to stable

Our credit view of CCI, reflecting its strong competitive position and robust cash flows counterbalanced by high leverage and tenant concentration.

Morningstar | Crown Castle's Strong 2Q Results Driven by Lower-Quality Revenue; No Change to Our Fiber Skepticism

Crown Castle's second-quarter numbers looked great, with higher-than-expected revenue and profits serving as a prelude to the firm raising 2019 guidance. However, 100% of the outperformance relative to our forecast was due to nonrecurring network services and other revenue rather than site-rental revenue (leasing revenue on towers, small cells, and fiber). More importantly, we are yet to see impressive fiber revenue results. Our inability to find a competitive advantage in fiber led us to our no-moat rating, and until the firm can parlay its high capital spending into outsize revenue growth, w...

Morningstar | We’re Not Convinced Crown’s Heavy Fiber Spending Will Prove Worthwhile

Crown Castle's strategy has deviated from its two biggest competitors, which focus almost exclusively on towers and have a multinational footprint. Crown now operates exclusively in the U.S. and is aggressively investing in fiber to pursue small-cell communications sites. In our view, Crown Castle has adopted a high-risk strategy. While we acknowledge the potential upside of its fiber investments, they require heavy initial investment and lack the competitive advantage that Crown has with its towers. We like Crown’s legacy tower business (70% of total revenue in 2018), where it leases space on ...

Vermilion Compass: Weekly Equity Strategy

Caution warranted; Downgrading Materials We continue to believe that caution is warranted and we are concerned that key support levels we have been monitoring may not hold -- notably 2,800 and the 200-day MA on the S&P 500 and 4,125 and the 200-day MA on the equal-weighted S&P 500. Below we highlight several negative developments which increase the likelihood of a breakdown below these key S&P 500 support levels. • Cyclicals are deteriorating. We are downgrading Materials (XLB, RTM) to underweight -- reduce exposure and raise cash where possible. The Sector is succumbing to price and RS dete...

Vermilion Compass: Weekly Equity Strategy

Caution still warranted; Shift to market cap neutral Note: This report is presented in an abbreviated format, as we are in production of our November U.S. Macro Vision book. This market is still fighting an uphill battle following the S&P 500 breakdown below its 200-day moving average - a level that is now acting as formidable resistance. Our outlook remains extremely cautious due to overhead supply and the additional themes highlighted below: • Internals deteriorating. Advance/decline lines are violating multi-year uptrends, confirming the market's decline. • Defensives are leading, ind...
